The Bruno petrol stations are a known phenomenon in Limburg and surrounding areas. The challenge for a new affiliate at the beginning of the Genkersteenweg in Hasselt existed in the creation of an eye catcher as architectural catalyst that has to herald the further development of an area. Because of the somewhat precarious location of the project between a busy regional road and a quiet residential street a whole series of preconditions had to be taken into account. The plot is triangular and tapered in shape, because of which the building has received a particular design. By opting for one volume in which all functions are integrated, with a serene look in form and use of both material and colours, the building is a peaceful haven in the bustle of the commercial route that is the Genkersteenweg. The combination of white architectural concrete and large glass sections creates a unique appeal that makes the project stand out by its austerity.
